After taking a tough loss last time at the Nashville Fairgrounds, William Sawalich bounced back to win Saturday’s Dutch Boy 150, the debut for the ARCA Menards Series East at Flat Rock Speedway.
“I think I saved my tires well. Had hoped for a restart there and it happened,” he said in an interview after the challenge race. The 16-year-old driver was able to take the lead from Sean Hingorani with 48 laps to go. after making some contact with the back of the No. 15.

“It went up to 15 there. I thought I liked him so I stuck my nose in and thought it was pretty fair,” he added in his post-win interview.
Hingorani, who sat on pole and led most of the 150-lap race, expressed his displeasure with his Toyota teammates after the race. “I don’t think 18 races were pure, but it was a good race. I think we’ll do better next time,” he said after finishing third.

Finishing between Savalich and Hingorani was LaVar Scott, who finished a best second in the ARCA Menards Series East.
“It means a lot. We weren’t very lucky on our short track, but my team worked really hard to give me something great. Give me something I can go out with and win.”
Billy Venturini was in an ARCA car for the last time since 2007, but the team owner came home fourth that night. “I am proud! I’m not out of breath. I want to be close to 200 (laps). Our car was good for a long time. I don’t think I can go like these kids in the beginning,” said Venturini.
“I’ve learned that I can’t drive a free race car like I used to,” added the team owner.
Last week’s first winner Luke Fenhaus was fifth after falling off a strong run early. Zachary Tinkle, Tim Monroe, Will Kimmel, Jeffery MacZink and Derrick McGrew Jr rounded out the top ten.
