ADO Den managed to get a meager point in the last home game of the season against the number 18 in the rankings. The match ended 2-2.
After the loss against Jong Ajax last Monday, ADO no longer has a chance to qualify for the play-offs for promotion.
Tonight’s game was therefore a bit dominated by some other things.
Next season’s new home shirt, in which the players played as a preview tonight, was revealed in the Aad Mansveld stands.
There were, like every last home game. photos shown on the screens of those who have passed away from us this season. And after the game, as usual at the end of the season, the Karel Jansen trophy was awarded.
In tonight’s line-up, a debutant caught the eye. Keeper Kilian Nikiema replaced the sick Sonny Stevens.
With the opponent, former ADO Den Haag player Benjamin Reemst was in the starting line-up.
The away match against Dordrecht at the beginning of this calendar year was won by ADO 0-1. The scorer was Mario Bilate.
Now for tonight’s game. After a tentative start to the game that was really about nothing, but which was still about the honor for the reasonably filled stands, there were few opportunities to be found.
In the 17th minute there was only the first chance for ADO to take the lead, Kemper headed from a corner at keeper Bossin’s goal, who managed to make the save. Shortly afterwards, Verheydt was in a promising position on a pass from Zwarts, but the striker headed the ball just over Bossin’s goal.
In the 28th minute, ADO took the lead through a goal from Malik Sellouki: 1-0. It then sounded slightly cynical from the stands: ‘We are entering Europe’. But not for long, because four minutes later the ball was in the goal on the other side of the field after a goal from Tidjany Touré: 1-1.
After that, nothing worth mentioning happened, so that the dressing rooms were visited before half-time with the score tied.
Both teams entered the field unchanged after tea.
Fifteen minutes after the break, former ADO Den Haag player Reemst was close to taking the lead for the club from Dordrecht. Fortunately for ADO, Nikiema kept the ball out of the goal via the outside post.
In the 71st minute, referee Martens pointed to the spot after a foul in the 16. Verheydt used the penalty flawlessly and made it 2-1. But again there was a quick answer from Dordrecht. Cetin quickly leveled his club.
Trainer Dick Advocaat changed Asante for Werker and later Catic and Sellouki for Bilate and Komljenovic.
There were still some chances for Bilate and Werker, but they did not yield any results. Also a free kick edge 16 was not used properly, in fact the ball ended up directly at the opponent.
The game thus ended in a 2-2 draw.
After the match, the Karel Jansen Trophy was presented by ADO icon Lex Schoenmaker. Among the men, Titouan Thomas (player of the season), Finn van Breemen (talent of the season) and Thomas Verheydt top scorer of the season) won prizes. ADO Den Haag women Nikkie IJzerman (player of the season) Liz Rijsbergen (top scorer of the season) and Nikkie IJzerman and Louise van Oosten (talent of the season) also received an award.
The last league game of the season awaits next week. ADO will then compete against Young AZ.
