PSV has entered the battle for midfielder Gedson Fernandes. Several Turkish media are reporting this today. The team from Eindhoven will probably say goodbye to both Ibrahim Sangaré and Erick Gutierrez this summer, which is why new midfielders have to come.
The Besiktas player has also been linked to Ajax for a while. Rumors are that PSV has no less than eighteen million euros left for Fernandes: that would be a record transfer for the Eindhoven team. Currently, Mateja Kezman is the most expensive purchase of all time (fourteen million euros, in 2000 from Partizan Belgrade).
In addition to Ajax and PSV, SS Lazio is also linked to the youth exponent of SL Benfica. Fernandes (24) is known as a ball conqueror with many footballing qualities. The question is whether he is actually feasible for Dutch clubs, because Fernandes is still with Besiktas until mid-2026 and the Turks would rather keep him for another year, because there is a belief that he can deliver even more after that.
Last year, Besiktas paid six million euros for 50% of Fernandes’ transfer rights; half of the proceeds will therefore go to Benfica. He previously also played on a rental basis for Tottenham Hotspur and Caykut Rizespor.
