PSV club watcher: “It is possible that a foreigner will come”

Journalist Marco Timmer spoke extensively on Friday about the plans for renewal in the PSV staff. At the end of this season, the club will thoroughly evaluate what went well and what did not go well.

“It is clear that not everything went well in the staff. For Ruud van Nistelrooij, managing thirty players and 25 staff members at the highest level was completely new and clearly different from what he was used to at Jong PSV”, Timmer van Football International. Timmer understands that Van Nistelrooij sometimes lacked hands. “The approach of a young trainer who has his own ideas about how to work, train and play football also differs from the working method of an experienced coach.”

Last calendar year, the person with final responsibility already brought Javier Rabanal to his staff as Head of Methodology. “During the season, Rabanal also disappeared from the bench. The official reading is that it was too busy on the bench and therefore too restless for the players.”

Will Fred Rutten also leave in addition to André Ooijer?

André Ooijer has already indicated that he will stop as an assistant to Van Nistelrooij after this season, but there is still a question mark behind the name of Fred Rutten. “However, it is also clear that the correct composition of the technical staff is being discussed. It cannot be ruled out that a foreigner from the coach’s network will replace Ooijer”, Timmer concludes.
