MoEI promotes strategic clean energy partnerships with the German and Dutch energy sectors

Abu Dhabi [UAE], May 20 (ANI/WAM): Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs Sharif Al Olama visited Germany and the Netherlands to strengthen existing partnerships and discuss common goals, energy transition and technology. With the participation of 11,500 decision-makers, energy ministers and CEOs from more than 100 countries, the summit facilitated the latest developments in hydrogen technologies and policies and related investment opportunities. As part of the summit, Al Olama took part in a tour of hydrogen-related facilities in the Port of Rotterdam, Europe’s largest port, where he learned about best practices from the Dutch authorities and future plans and projects for the port. During his stay in the Netherlands, Al Olama held several bilateral meetings with senior officials to explore ways to develop strategic partnerships, share knowledge and promote investment opportunities in renewable energy sources. In this context, he met the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Liesje Schreinmaker and the head of the Climate and Technology Partnership Unit of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Petra Swagger. He met with UAE Ambassador to the Netherlands Jamal Jama Al Musharraf and Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboudaleb in the presence of representatives of leading Dutch companies to explore joint investment opportunities.

One of the main highlights of the summit was the Masdar Roundtable, where Al Olama briefed representatives of Dutch public and private sector companies on the hydrogen industry in the UAE. Al Olama said: “Such visits provide great opportunities to improve cooperation and share knowledge and best practices with European countries pioneering the clean energy transition. This is in line with our firm commitment to sustainable development and a strong green economy.”

He added: “By fostering confidence in clean energy technology, we are strengthening our climate action, creating new jobs and an innovation ecosystem in the UAE. Meeting with like-minded colleagues helps align our visions and goals and enhances strategic synergies.
