A remarkable moment in extra time of the Europa League match between Sevilla and Juventus. Referee Danny Makkelie awarded a striking card to Marcos Acuña, who therefore has to miss the final against AS Roma.
The moment came in the 115th minute, when the final score (2-1 win for Sevilla) had already been reached. Acuña took a throw-in and wanted to throw the ball back. There was Nemanja Gudelj, who called for Acuña to throw forward. A fierce discussion ensued and in the eyes of Makkelie Acuña had lost too much time on the throw-in. As a result, he received a second yellow card and therefore a red. Normally, the Argentinian is therefore suspended for the final.

After the red card, Acuña was furious with Gudelj in particular. His absence may mean good news for Karim Rekik, who sees the chance of a starting place in the final increase. On Wednesday, May 31, Seville and Roma will meet in Budapest.
It is reminiscent of Brett Emerton, who missed the UEFA Cup final with Feyenoord, because the linesman urged him to put the ball right at a corner and the referee then interpreted it as wasting time. After which the cowardly frontier fell silent.

Wonderful moment in the final phase in Seville: the red card for Marcos Acuña.
The Argentinian butcher might have had six yellow cards in the diptych, extra nice that he will miss the final due to a second yellow card in extra time for throwing in too slowly. pic.twitter.com/ZMKSNiX1bB

Bye Juve, nice. Hopefully for Sevilla that second yellow for Acuna will be canceled, you can use it #SEVJUV

What a sour 2nd yellow that was. It’s not going to be too cozy between Acuña and Gudelj in the coming weeks.
