‘Jurrien Timber can move for a limited transfer’

Jurrien Timber can leave Ajax with a limited transfer fee. Although Sven Mislintat would like to keep him for the club, there is a lot of interest in the mandekker.

“I met him here at De Toekomst and then we spoke briefly and one-on-one,” Timber begins in Algemeen Dagblad about Mislintat. The German wants to bet on a clear core, with the Orange international as one of the leaders. “He spoke longer with my agent. As far as I know, Ajax wants to keep me here. Timber is fixed in Amsterdam until mid-2025, but according to the AD, he does have a transfer clause. Moreover, European top clubs already showed interest last year. “Actually, I am now in the same situation as last year. I don’t know if I’m going to take that step yet. I’m glad I’m at Ajax. Here you can always show yourself.”

Timber is curious about Ajax’s plans this summer. “That’s important to me. I want to fight for the prizes, compete for the Champions League. That is still the question. Those are aspects that are important to me.” Decisive even? “No, it’s not like I’m gone if we don’t play the Champions League. Ajax remains Ajax. What I look at: if I leave, will the whole picture be correct? I also know how important the trainer and the guys around you are. I expect that next season will be better. With or without me, Ajax usually gets it back on track.”

Timber is not fixated on a transfer. “I understand the guys who think: if a top club comes, I go. It’s also hard to say no. Only, I don’t have that at all. In my case everything is still open. Quite a lot is happening in the background in terms of interest. I will soon see what the concrete options are.”
