Heracles Almelo cancels tour after tragic accident in Zeeland

Heracles Almelo was crowned champion of the Kitchen Champion Division on Friday. Jong Ajax was defeated 2-0, so that Heracles PEC Zwolle ultimately stayed ahead of goal difference. The club will be honored on Sunday, but will see a tour of the city.

Heracles shows compassion

Heracles would go through the city with an open bus, but says on the club site to refrain from doing so. This in response to a tragic accident with a champion car on Saturday afternoon in Yerseke, in which a 5-year-old girl died.

“Heracles Almelo sympathizes with the relatives. After consultation with the Municipality of Almelo and the transporter Bolk, we think it is currently inappropriate to celebrate the championship achieved on the flat cart,” the club reports. The ceremony in the city center will continue, says Heracles. “Heracles Almelo wants to make it a big championship party tomorrow afternoon with everyone who cares about the club. The selection drives the players bus from the stadium directly to the city center. The pre-program will start at 4.30 pm on the Marktplein. The official ceremony of players and entire staff is at 5.30 pm.”
