FCUpdate.nl brings its own timetable at the beginning of each day. With a handy overview we map out what the news of the day will be, which specials will be online, which duels are on the program and what kind of football will be on TV. Here’s what you can expect on Tuesday, May 23.
VVV Venlo – Willem II (6.45 pm)
The promotion battle in the play-offs for promotion/relegation erupts. It has long been known that Heracles Almelo and PEC Zwolle would promote directly, but there is still one spot left. Willem II can become the third team to return to the highest level after one year in the Kitchen Champion Division. In the regular season, the Tilburgers finished in fourth position. The home team from Venlo plays for the second year at the second level of the Netherlands and finished number seven. In the previous meeting between these teams it was still 2-1 for Willem II. Who will take the first step towards the semi-finals of the playoffs?
NAC Breda – MVV Maastricht (9 p.m.)
Another exciting game in the battle for promotion to the Eredivisie. Both teams finished with a total of 59 points and also had a goal difference of zero. You can’t get much more exciting than that. MVV had a very strong period this season and was also in first place during that time. After that it went a bit less, but the play-offs were reached. NAC needed a trainer change this season to get some points again and reach the playoffs. Peter Hyballa came and made it happen. In the last meeting between these two teams, the home team won 4-1. Is it going to be such a punishment again or can MVV already take a first step towards the semi-finals?

Real Valladolid – FC Barcelona (10pm)
FC Barcelona has been champion for a while, but still has to compete against Real Valladolid, who are battling against relegation. That team is currently eighteenth in the league and that place ensures relegation. With a win, it can move up a spot and take a step in the right direction. It is still early in what capacity Barça will play in this match, because after Saturday’s match against Real Sociedad (1-2 loss to Barcelona), the team was still honored for the championship. The team then entered with the regular team. Can Valladolid stunt at home or is Barcelona doing its duty?
