Did Bayern Munich lose the Bundesliga championship on Saturday night? It could just be possible, because the Bavarian superpower went down 3-1 at RB Leipzig. And that in turn means that competitor Borussia Dortmund can beat Bayern tomorrow, with only one round to go after that.
Bayern Munich lays out red carpet for Borussia Dortmund
Bayern knew what to do against RB Leipzig, a win would bring them to match point! And the team of coach Thomas Tuchel started the match pretty well, as Serge Gnabry made it 0-1 in the 25th minute of the game. After that, however, the home team started to push and Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, who both started in the starting line-up, needed goalkeeper Yann Sommer’s saves to stay on their feet.
That couldn’t go on and it couldn’t go on. Halfway through the second half, Sommer was beaten for the first time, after a corner kick from Bayern. Leipzig, however, came out very quickly and Konrad Laimer crowned the quick counter.
Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui
Tuchel brought Ryan Gravenberch within the lines for Leon Goretzka, but then things went completely wrong for Bayern. Benjamin Pavard attacked Christopher Nkunku, who took and used the subsequent penalty himself. Ten minutes later history repeated itself, this time after a handball from Mazraoui and with Dominik Szoboszlai as penalty taker: 1-3 and the game was over.
Borussia Dortmund will play against FC Augsburg tomorrow and a win is in the cards BVB first with two points ahead of Bayern. After that there is one more round to go: Bayern will face 1. FC Köln and Dortmund will play against 1. FSV Mainz 05.
