China approves acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft

The Chinese government has approved Microsoft’s bid to acquire Activision Blizzard for $69 billion, joining a total of 37 regulators, including the European Union and Japan.

The news first appeared today on Search Alpha via Dealreporter Item, and has since been confirmed via a statement from a Microsoft spokesperson to IGN:

China’s unconditional approval of our acquisition of Activision Blizzard follows approval decisions from jurisdictions such as the European Union and Japan, bringing the total to 37 countries representing more than two billion people. The acquisition, together with our recent commitments to the European Commission, will enable consumers around the world to play more games on more devices.
