Who says you need milk to make delicious pancakes? For those who are lactose intolerant or simply don’t have milk in the house, we have the perfect solution: pancakes without milk. These vegan pancakes are just as tasty and airy as the classic version and also easy to make.
We will of course tell you how to do that!
Newfangled pancakes
Although the classic pancake recipe will always remain a favorite, in recent years it has become increasingly easier and more necessary to vary with the classic Dutch meal. Our ‘diets’ change and sometimes an egg or a good splash of milk no longer fits. Earlier we wrote about pancakes without egg, but recently we also delved into the matter about pancakes without milk.
Because if you are lactose intolerant, vegan or if you simply don’t have any milk at home (and no supermarket around the corner), you still want to enjoy a pancake. Lucky for you: you can!

Pancakes without milk: that’s how you do it
Pancakes without milk are easy to make and just as delicious as the ‘traditional’ version. Look for a good basic recipe for pancakes. Look at the ingredients and instead of milk, add water, almond milk, soy milk or another vegetable drink.
To make the batter nice and airy, you can add a little sparkling water or mix the batter extra well and for a long time with a whisk or blender. For extra flavor (which is definitely necessary if you replace the milk with water) you can add a pinch of salt, sugar, vanilla extract and some oil to the batter. Then fry the pancakes over medium heat until golden brown on both sides. Exactly as you are used to.

Pancakes without milk and egg: is that possible?
Look, pancakes without milk or without egg, we get that. Leaving out one ingredient is not that exciting, but replacing two main ingredients? That’s another (pan)cake. Fortunately, you can easily make pancakes without milk and egg.
Combine the two theories: replace the milk with water or something else vegetable and replace the eggs with a spoonful of baking powder and a spoonful of applesauce. Add an extra drizzle of olive oil to the batter, mix it a little extra with a whisk or hand mixer and you’re ready to bake!
