‘Ajax thinks the transfer fee for top purchase is too high and drops out’

Ajax has temporarily dropped out in the battle for Gedson Fernandes (24). Here makes the Italian medium Corriere dello Sport reporting of.

He moved to Besiktas at the beginning of this season and aroused the interest of the team from Amsterdam. The club is looking for some direct reinforcements and is convinced that Fernandes can provide more balance in midfield. However, the high price tag is throwing a spanner in the works for the time being.

Fernandes still has a contract until mid-2026, with an option for another season. The Turks therefore demand an amount of more than 20 million euros to let him go. Where SS Lazio would be willing to put this amount on the table, Ajax has reportedly announced that it will look further.

Ajax still has two important matches ahead of this season with FC Utrecht (home) and FC Twente (away). The number 3 in the Eredivisie has only 2 points more than AZ, so it still has to work hard to win Europa League football. PSV almost certainly qualifies for the preliminary round of the Champions League.

In the Johan Cruijff Arena it has therefore become clear that a lot has to be done on the transfer market this summer. Mislintat would look at the positions of central defender, midfielder and attacker, among other things. Ajax would like to pay for the transfers with the departure of Edson Álvarez and Mohammed Kudus.
