ADO wants Feyenoord chief scout Mark Ruijl as the new technical man

ADO Den Haag thinks of Mark Ruijl as the club’s new technical man. The 37-year-old Hagenaar is currently still head of scouting at Feyenoord, but ADO and owner Bolt have already had several talks with Ruijl about a move to The Hague. However, the transition is not yet complete.

Those conversations were conducted by Scott McLachlan and Ignacio Beristain from owner Bolt. That would see Ruijl as a suitable candidate to help ADO recover on a technical level, after things went badly wrong this season with countless mishaps on the transfer market. Nevertheless, it does not mean that Ruijl’s arrival in The Hague is already a certainty. The Hague club has not yet reported to Feyenoord and an agreement between Ruijl and ADO has not yet been reached.

Month-long search
But if Ruijl, ADO and Feyenoord come out, then a long search for a new technical man will come to an end. That search was already started after the sudden resignation of technical manager Daryl Janmaat at the end of November, but a suitable candidate was never found. During the months following Janmaat’s departure, Beristain held the technical portfolio on behalf of owner Bolt – from Portugal. In recent months it became clear that this was not an ideal construction for ADO.

For Ruijl, the move to ADO would mean a return to The Hague. Ruijl was born in the residence and studied there. After that, the 37-year-old Hagenaar had a company in the field of data scouting and had been working as a coordinator of Feyenoord’s scouting since April 2021. Only a few months later he became chief scout.
